FINANCE YOUR STUDIES
As an entry-level higher education qualification, which is mainly vocationally and industry orientated, the purpose of the programme is to develop graduates with the necessary knowledge and knowledge systems, intellectual competencies and practical skills as to be able to analyse, interpret, understand and apply procurement
management principles, processes and procedures. The graduate should be able to take decisions in the context of a logistics and supply chain management or related organisation, to analyse relevant information, and produce innovative responses to concrete but often unfamiliar problems based on informed judgement.
The curriculum will contribute towards the intended outcomes by providing a student with a range of introductory and basic knowledge and competencies in fields such as business communications, information systems, and financial management. Furthermore, it will also provide the student with knowledge about general management principles and specific procurement, management principles. Practical decision-making skills will be facilitated by means of case studies, which will require a critical situation analysis, the selection and interpretation of relevant information and the implementation of decisions.
By means of work-directed, problem-based and project-based work integrated learning, students will gain work related experience and will be afforded the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills in the workplace context.
Students will be expected to undertake investigations in the procurement management field, including to evaluate different sources of information, gathering and interpretation of appropriate information and to communicate information reliably and coherently using procurement management and related conventions, formats and technologies.
It is expected of a student to work in a team in a familiar or new context with various role players, including professional and administrative staff within the procurement management environment. A student should also demonstrate sensitivity to differentÂ communities and sensitivity for the social and cultural differences and needs, particularly with respects to the variation and diversity within different communities.
2 Subjects on Higher Level (Grades 1 â€“ 3) and 3 subjects on Ordinary Level (Grades A – C)
2 Subjects on Higher Level (Grades 1 â€“ 3) and 4 subjects on Ordinary Level (Grades A â€“ E). Any of the aforementioned options must include English.
Completed the OLG Higher Certificate in Project or Logistics Management or other relevant 120 credit Higher Certificate with a minimum aggregate of 50%
Completed a Namibian NQF Level 5 Vocational Diploma in Logistics or Wholesale & Retail with a
minimum of 121 credits
Successfully completed the OLG Access programme
Mode of Delivery
The recommended minimum period in which to finish this programme is ideally one year. Certification in relation to the qualification cannot be obtained in a shorter time than this. The absolute maximum period in which to complete the programme is three years.
